You'd think that after five years and 1,200 profiles, we'd stop being surprised with unlikely Jews, and yet... And yet...

Tim Blake Nelson has a rather goyishe name, first, middle, and last.

Tim Blake Nelson was born in Oklahoma, not exactly a Jewish haven.

Perhaps most damningly, in his movie roles, Tim Blake Nelson usually plays rednecks and rubes, including a rather convincing turn in the Coen Brothers' terrific "O Brother, Where Art Thou?".

And yet, Tim Blake Nelson is a Jew. His grandparents fled Europe at the onset of World War II. He even directed a movie, "The Grey Zone", about Jews in Auschwitz.

So much for being so unlikely...

    Verdict: Jew.
