Our readers are great! In a recent profile of (somewhat Jewish) Sunny Hostin, we claimed that no Jewish women would be named Faith, Charity, Prudence, or Trinity (or Sunny, natch). So what do our readers do? Send in names of (somewhat famous) Jewish women named Faith, Prudence, and Sunny! (Still waiting on Charity and Trinity...)
As you can guess, this one is of Faith, and we could have gone with civil rights activist Faith Holsaert, or district judge Faith S. Hochberg (the S is for Shapiro!). But our Faith of choice is two-time Oscar winner Faith Hubley, nee Chestman.
Working with goyishe husband John Hubley, Faith was nominated for six Oscars for animated short films, winning two. One of those was for "A Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass Double Feature", a six-minute cartoon that has been called a "prototype of modern music videos". Recently-profiled Herb Alpert and his band played the "Spanish Flea" in animated form! Truly ahead of their times, the Hubleys... (The other one was for "The Hole", a 1962 cartoon about the global nuclear war. Let's hope this one was NOT ahead of its time.)
We're willing to bet there are no Jewish Charities and Trinities! The ball is in your court, dear readers!
